Credit points for Language Courses at the Language Centre of the University of Basel
In general:
- How many and whether any credit points can be awarded at all for a language course is stated in the corresponding course description in the current course programme of the Language Centre.
- Conditions for the acquisition of credit points: Regular attendance (see course announcement), and successfully fulfilling all course requirements, or where applicable, submitting the official Cambridge, TOEFL, DALF or DELE certificate after the respective preparation courses.
- The maximum number of credit points applicable for language courses is determined by the faculties (see agreement with the individual faculties on our website).
After successfully fulfilling all course requirements or submitting an official certificate, the Language Centre informs the Deans' offices about the results and the number of credit points acquired. Students who fulfilled the requirements will be informed by e-mail about their grade (where applicable) or whether they have passed the course.
In case you cannot sit the exam on the date given (a studies-related reason for absence needs to be submitted to the director in written form), you can write the exam at the next given date at the end of the following semester.
In portfolio courses, all parts of the portfolio have to be submitted by the end of the course. Late submission of any parts or of corrections after this deadline is not possible.
