Multi- and plurilingualism in higher education
The Language Centre supports the University in its promotion of
- Internationalisation
- Mobility
- Linguistic integration
One overarching aim herein is the promotion of plurilingualism, that is enhancing the ability of language users to communicate successfully in several languages without necessarily being perfect in all of them.
With this in mind, various methods have been used since spring 2011 to systematically examine the present situations and future goals of students at the University of Basel. Findings from these studies feed back into our didactics and curricula that seek to develop the plurilingual competence of students and staff for academic and professional purposes and to enhance their scope of participation in society.
A selection of these findings is reported in the following publications and presentations.
