Language Courses at the Language Centre

• Language courses for students/ PhD students of all faculties of the University of Basel (general language courses of all levels, courses for academic and special purposes, German as a foreign language, diverse workshops and block seminars)
• Language courses for students of modern philologies (within their curriculum)
• Language courses for staff members of the University of Basel
• Courses for the Advanced Study Centre or within the University's Continuing Education programme
• Courses for alumni of the University of Basel (members of the AlumniBasel club only)
• Language courses in cooperation with other universities and institutes of higher education
• The Language Centre is free to broaden its course programme, organize and integrate new courses (also in languages not currently listed in our course programme). Interested parties can contact us directly.

Important tips:

1)   Please note our terms and conditions for the registration.

2)   If you are interested in a language that is not yet offered in our course programme, please let us know (info-sprachenzentrum@unibas.ch). With a sufficient number of interested students, we will seek to offer a course in the desired language.

3)   Courses at the Language Centre must be organized on a cost-covering basis, i.e., besides having a minimum number of participants, the registered and grouped students must immediately pay the course fees (via payment slips delivered by post or e-mail).

4)   We appeal to your senses of responsibility and fairness regarding your fellow students and the lecturers of the Language Centre: Please consider carefully whether you can realistically join the course, and if the class time fits your timetable. Your deregistration after the formation of a course group could lead to its cancellation on short notice.

5)   The Language Centre cannot guarantee for follow-up courses taking place.
